Academic Advising & Special Events

The academic advising component of the ARC (Academic Resource Center) links students who are freshmen with a successful and full academic experience. An advising team of faculty provides one-on-one assistance for making decisions about academic courses, careers, or changing majors. At the appropriate time, usually by the sophomore year, advisors connect students with major specific faculty advisors for the remainder of their course work.

In addition, the advising team:

    • Coaches and aids students at all levels toward attaining their personal and academic goals
    • Provides accurate information about degree requirements and academic standards
    • Connects students to the multitude of services, support systems, and information available at Texas Wesleyan University
    • Holds several registration and information sessions during the academic year.

Annual Advising Events:

    • Freshman Orientation, Advising & Registration, Summer 2005
      Dates: April 29th, June 14th, July 12th, & August 19th
    • Freshman Café: an event for freshmen to sign-up for advising times and eat a great, free lunch.
      -occurs during the fall semester
    • Freshman Scoop: an event for freshmen to sign-up for advising times and help themselves to free ice cream with all the fix-ins
      -occurs during the spring semester
