Hello Mr.
Lillieroos!
I just wanted to extend my thank you to you even
further! It was an exciting time for the kids and me.
We hope that some day soon some of the players
would come and visit with us and show the kids some of
their moves.
Every since the kids have been back all they do is try
to play like Eric, Courtney, and Dinko! It is so funny
to watch them try to imitate the players!
I thank God for you and the goodness of your heart to
invite us for such an endearing experience. I will
never forget this weekend for as long as I live. You
gave our kids an opportunity to get exposed to the
good things in life and its rewards.
May God Bless you and keep you. You will always be in
my prayers! Oh by the way, I would like to remind you
to please send us (email) copies of the
pictures that Little Joe took of the kids throughout
the event. I would like to pass them on to our Board
Members to let them see how beautiful and
helpful they were.
Thank you again and I am available for any other
events that you have in the future!

"I
checked this morning and to my surprise all
the results were already up and posted.
Officiating aside, this year's championships
were run very professionally, from the venue
and organization to the web page and press
releases. The whole team deserves a lot of
credit.
Congrats,

Hola Christian,
First of all, congratulations on the Team's
victory defending the NCTTA Championship and
also for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the ACUI
tournament! Well done!
Also, I wanted to tell you that it's a pleasure
to have worked with you, Wesleyan staff,
tournament organizers, referees, players and
other volunteers to achieve a very successful
tournament with some of the highest standards in
running such an important event.

I was
there for about 90% of the event.
I think the facility was pretty good. Not being on
the courts, the lighting seemed fine and there looked
to be adequate space for the players at each table.
Temperature control seemed good also, from the
bleachers. Getting to this site was pretty easy from
the highways, there was plenty of parking and that the
parking was free was nice. It was good to have a food
concession in the building as you needed to travel a
bit to get to the nearest mainstream fast food
outlets. Some healthier choices for the spectators
would be nice. I liked the fact there was fruit
available.
The
bleacher seating gets downright uncomfortable after a
couple of hours though. Makes me wonder how much
money could have been made selling seat cushions. ;-)
Only having seating on one side, for most of the
rounds, made it hard to watch the matches on the far
set of tables.
Scheduling was obviously an issue as every day went
pretty late, well beyond the posted schedule. If you
have more women's teams next year, or a larger ACUI
pool, it will be even more of a challenge. As a
spectator it was hard for me to understand the format
of he event, qualifying round robins into
single-elimination brackets, at first and it was also
hard to determine where the event stood in terms of
results and current round.
Contributing factors to some of the delay was either
the obliviousness of some of the players to being
called to the staging area for their next round or the
inability of them to hear the PA announcer. I had no
particular problem hearing the PA myself. The
players were not alone as there were occasions where
the umpires seemed not to hear when they were called
to their tables.
I was surprised at some of the players' disrespect of
the officials, particularly a couple of occasions
where they were re-gluing in the bleachers and
directed to go to a designated gluing area by
officials, including the Referee, but ignored the
request.
The umpires seemed to do a pretty good job overall but
there were a few that obviously didn't know the
routine. There was some inconsistency there.
I enjoyed the "door prizes" but it would have been
nice to have more that were TT related. I think the
MC, Mike Meiers, did a great job with the audience.
One last thing. I would have preferred to have the
ACUI men's and women's singles finals not run
concurrently. I know the schedule was behind but both
matches were well worth watching.
